How will my ticket affect my insurance?

That’s a great question.  One of the worst consequences of a traffic ticket conviction is the affect it has on your car insurance.  Each type of traffic conviction has its own number of points that come along with it.  In North Carolina the more insurance points you have the more expensive your car insurance will be.  As you can see from the chart below, the insurance premiums add up quickly depending on the number of points you have on your driving record.

For example, say you have no insurance points on your driving record before you get a ticket for careless and reckless driving.  As you can see from the first chart, careless and reckless driving will add 4 points to your driving record if you’re convicted of it.  Looking at the second chart, if you do get convicted of careless and reckless driving then your monthly insurance premium will go from $200 a month to $360 a month.
